Photo Luminism at Spectrum Miami, Art Basel Week
Two weeks ago I hopped on a plane and started the biggest adventure that I have had in this new career. Some months ago I took a huge leap of faith and decided that after such incredible feedback at Photo Independent LA and the Kinetica Art Fair in London I really should take Photo Luminism to the biggest art venue in the country. Spectrum Miami, Art Basel Week is the best event for independent artists and galleries. With over 130 booths catering to all types of art, and a minimum of 20,000 art collectors and art aficionados streaming through during the course of the five days, it is a non stop roller coaster. Add to that the showmanship of Cirque de Soleil, the glitzy late night parties and the glamour of the Miamians and you have one of the most fun filled, exciting events of the year. This was an adrenaline pumping show, never a dull moment. Redwood, the organizers, thought of almost everything, taking wonderful care of their participants. Certainly there were a few hiccoughs but that’s inevitable with any event of this scale and in the end all ran smoothly, despite Picasso’s stolen silver plate next door at Red Dot and the protesters who closed I95, attracting an overhead armada of low flying helicopters for several hours. But the response to my imagery was overwhelming. It was a justification of all the hard work, long hours, dedication and funds that I had thrown at this wild passion of mine over the last few years. Photo Luminism is being taken seriously. Collectors are investing. Maybe they recognize the innovation or appreciate the purism. Whatever, the adrenaline keeps flowing and the inspirational art moves to new homes. Roll on Miami Art Week 2015!
