Photo Luminism Picture Featured in the Philadelphia City Paper!
Christopher Kennedy’s Photo Luminism image, ‘Folded’ is featured in the January 3 – 9th edition of the City Paper on the A & E page. Journalist Holly Otterbein gives an overview of five exhibitions including the LG TRIPP Gallery’s FOCUS 2012 5th Abstract Photography Exhibition. The picture fills the top half of the page and tops the article headed, “First Friday Focus.” Holly mentions several of the photographers at the Tripp show and quotes gallery owner Luella Tripp expounding on the merits of abstract photography, which to many seems to be a contradiction. Luella says, “In our visual culture, we all too often view a photograph as ‘reality.’ However, despite appearances, it is by its very nature removed from the reality we see and feel. By rejecting the myth of photography, the abstract artist embraces the medium’s full potential.”
The exhibition has been extended and will now run through January 19th.
