The Geometric Series
When I was at school, all the elements of mathematics were taught in separate classes, often by different teachers. We had New Math, Algebra and Geometry. I have to admit to not being frightfully good at the first two but I was always fascinated by geometry. I loved the meticulous method of using the protractor for working out angles and the compass for it’s effortless ability to draw circles, figure out other shapes and create Spirograph style patterns.
The Geometric Series is my personal homage and it concentrates on the primary shapes that are so prevalent in our lives:
The Circle which is important for so many things, not the least of which is the Π calculation, something I need a calculator for. I also love it for its ability to create a seemingly bottomless portal, which is almost as vital to me as its infinite line.
The Triangle is fascinating for its part in the creation of ancient architecture and for being so mysterious and pervasive in spiritual, conspiratorial and idealogical theories.
The Square has to be included because not only does it represent the basic shape of the most popular toy ever not intentionally given, the box, but it’s also the base of a pyramid, AND what I’m now deemed to be as I’m over 16!
